As a settler living on stolen Indigenous lands, at a time of multiple, brutal and interconnected global genocides, to draw on Anam Cara is not a nostalgic gesture—it’s a remembering and a responsibility to:
interrupt the colonial rupture of relationality,
return to land-based wisdom,
practice care that doesn’t dominate, diagnose, or extract,
de-center wealth accumulation,
bring our individual and collective soul back into our communities as we return to our full humanity.

****engage in reparations****
@eroticsofliberation has created this fund and I am inviting white bodied folks (especially those working in or participating / benefiting from somatic healing / therapeutic practices and spaces) to make a contribution - one time and monthly to this very tangible reparative action.
unearned wealth generated through racial capitalism reinforces inequitable access to healing modalities obvious in the wellness industry but also deeply, perpetually in liberation practice and activism spaces.
Link in my bio to participate in this work of reparation. Sign up for care’s newsletter while you’re there.
For many of us, staying connected to our creative selves in the heat of summer can be challenging.
It’s easy to just get busy trying to survive in the heat (and capitalism) and forget about the things that make us, us; that are important collectively.
Join me for this low barrier, low demand, low cost way to come together and imagine and become by making paper-bag-books!
0-$50 for the whole series - pay what you can, or not! Just come!

The thing about ART is that it needs you to become it! Unfolding is required! That is why Art is resistance to structures and patterns of dominance, and why Art together is an act of community care!
Supplies:
- paper bags (one or more)
- stapler
- glue
- some combo of: old magazines, books, papers, photos, fabric, string, needle and thread, buttons… whatever!
This book was created over a few days, unfolding. I didn’t have a plan when I started. I flipped through materials, and pulled out things that I felt drawn to or connected with. And started to place them on the folded, stapled paper bags… some i glued because I was sure or just felt like it - others I waited and moved again and then glued or stitched. I also tucked things in the pockets created by the bags opening, little secrets just for me.
I didn’t like it half way through. I didn’t like it when I finished it. I put it away.
A week later, I like it. I see myself reflected back to me, in ways I didn’t see before. a story of grief and power, loss and pleasure, connection and care, contradictions and conflicts…. articulated in choices.
Art reminds us who we are.
